ARFID + Feeding Challenges Families Support
Call for Better ARFID + Feeding Support in Australia
Too many families are being told to wait until things get worse.
Too many children are falling through the cracks.
ARFID is not “picky eating.” It can affect growth, nutrition, regulation, mental health, family wellbeing and everyday life.
We are calling for earlier recognition, better pathways, practical family support and funding for children living with ARFID and complex feeding challenges.
Help us push for change.
Why this matters
Families across Australia are struggling to access timely, informed support for children with ARFID and complex feeding challenges.
Many children are being:
- dismissed
- mislabelled
- left without appropriate support
- pushed to crisis point before help is offered
For some families, this can mean severe stress, nutritional compromise, hospitalisation, tube feeding, financial pressure and ongoing trauma around food and care.
This needs to change.
#OneBiteIsBrave
This May, we’re raising awareness for ARFID and pediatric feeding challenges, one bite at a time.
Because what looks like “fussy eating” is often fear, anxiety, and daily battles no one sees.

Free Mini Guide
We are creating a free mini guide for parents and carers navigating ARFID and feeding challenges.
This guide will include simple, supportive information around:
- what ARFID is
- when to seek help
- what support options may exist
- questions to ask professionals
- practical reassurance for overwhelmed families
Directory of Support
We are building a practical, parent-friendly directory of support options for families navigating ARFID and feeding challenges.
This will grow over time and may include:
- feeding clinics and hospital pathways
- dietitians
- occupational therapists
- psychologists
- allied health professionals
- parent support options
- useful organisations and resources
- practical tools, scripts and downloadable supports
The goal is simple: to help families know where to turn.
Lived Experience Book
One Bite Is Brave
We are developing a lived experience book sharing the real stories behind ARFID, feeding fear, hospital stays, tube feeding, resilience and the tiny wins no one else sees.
This book is intended to:
- help families feel less alone
- raise awareness
- share practical reflections
- honour the emotional reality of parenting through feeding challenges

How this project is being hosted
This initiative is currently being developed as part of Inclusive Mamas Club, to provide families with practical support now while building a stronger voice for change over time.
No family should have to figure this out alone.
No child should have to reach crisis point before help is offered.
If this matters to you, please join us.
